About The Oriental Theatre
Cambria Chicago Loop/Theatre District shares the same building as the famous Oriental Theatre! Look no further for comfortable guest rooms and first class amenities during your next trip to Chicago's Theatre District.
The Oriental Theatre opened in 1926 as a deluxe movie palace and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as New Masonic Building and Oriental Theater. The venue presented both movies and vaudeville acts during its early years, but by the 1930s it became predominantly a movie house, though live performances and concerts continued.
Featuring architecture inspired by the Far East, The Oriental Theatre has been one of the most renowned landmarks in Chicago's famed Theatre District and has hosted acts such as The Three Stooges, George Burns, Cab Calloway, Bob Hope, The Marx Brothers, Jerry Lewis, and Frank Sinatra. Today the Theatre is home to many hit Broadway musicals.
